ODDAFIP

Sustainable Development Goals with Artisans from France, India and Peru

Open Access Webdocumentary to better understand the SDGs and migration movements throughout the world

ODDAFIP

What is it?

A series of documentaries, portraying artisans in France, India and Peru
A regional project to promote the SDGs, especially among young people
A conversation by young people and for young people
A lasting bond formed between 3 regions of the world
A web page with educational resources at your disposal
The ODDAFIP (2022) project (2022) is the continuation and extension of the ODDATARA project (2020), in which, thanks to a series of documentaries, five of the Sustainable Development Goals were showcased through the actions of groups of artisans from India and France.

Today, and thanks to funding from the European Comission (Mindchangers via RESACOOP), the project has evolved: Peru has joined India and France. Thus, the parallelism between actors and actions is no longer only between the "North" and the "South" but also between two countries of the "South" with sometimes very similar experiences..

ODDAFIP offers a fresh look at the SDGs, presenting the similar and different challenges to achieve them throughout the world. We take up the SDGs already presented and add new ones, chosen with the young people involved in this project.

Thus, we highlight the fight for access to quality education (SDG 4) through the transmission of artisan techniques and knowledge, the reduction of inequalities (SDG 10) in contexts of extreme poverty, as well as the construction of sustainable and inclusive communities. (SDG 11). And above all, we reveal the importance of a spirit of collaboration to achieve them, with SDG 17: Partnerships to achieve the Goals.

Finally, we wanted to highlight the importance of an omnipresent theme in our lives and that of our characters: the experience of migration. Many people leave their homeland in search of new opportunities and better living conditions. What is the role of migration in the struggle to achieve the SDGs? How can fair trade and solidarity support migrants in their search for less inequality?

ODDAFIP was created by a team of volunteers from Artisans du Monde, filmmaker Manuel-Antonio Monteagudo and anthropologist Fernanda Arias Gogin. It was supported by local associations from Bourgoin-Jallieu, Vieux Lyon, Annemasse et Valence, with the collaboration from youngsters working as « Ambassadors of the SDGs ».

ODDAFIP : Our actions in 2022... looking at the future

After a period of preproduction with the young “Ambassadors” from Valence, Bourgoin-Jallieu, Annemasse and Lyon, Manuel-Antonio and Fernanda went to Peru in April 2022 in order to film the documentaries. Then, while the documentaries were edited, the young people in France promoted the SDGs by organizing various events in their region.

Meanwhile, videoconference meetings were organized between artisans from France, India and Peru to create a space for dialogue and exchange. These actions culminated in the  ODDAFIPODDAFIP tour in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in September 2022. A closing event... which projected us into the future.
Peruvians invited in France and public events
In september 2022, ODDAFIPinvited three protagonists from the documentaries: Denise Pozzi-Escot, director of the Pachacamac Museum, Domenika Alcazar, president of the Sisan association, and Maurelio Huaraca, artisan from the Ichimay Wari association, in Lima.

Meetings with local artisans, workshops with young people and public screenings of the documentaries were organized in Lyon, Annecy, Annemasse, Bourgoin, Valence, Romans and Grenoble. On September 29, the students of the Valentin agricultural high school at Bourg lès Valence organized of a day of meetings and a great debate in the eventings. As the tour progressed, the positive word-of-mouth attracted an increasing amount of public, , interested in this dialogue between cultures.

ODDAFIP's actions have even inspired members of the Artisans du Monde association, to start a new reflection on fair trade: a round table organized in Valence on 09/28/2022 allowed them to discuss and chart future paths. It brought together representatives of the Artisans du Monde Federation, the Solidar'Monde purchasing center, volunteers from the ADM "Partner Monitoring Commission", the ODDAFIP team and the Peruvian guests. The conclusions reached during these meetings will have positive repercussions in our international alliances in the future...
ODDAFIPA bridge between peoples for a common objective
The conclusion of the tour did not mean the end of our exchanges. At the end of October, what would be the last webinar between artisans from France, India and Peru, allowed us to synthesize our conclusions on the common challenges of artisans. The Condition of women and their emancipation thanks to artisan communities, the transmission of culture and education, the preservation of the environment, health,... But above all, solidarity! This "last" meeting in October was not final at all, as the artisans wanted to keep in touch with their "families" on the other side of the world. You will be able to read the Compilation of good practices that we wrote with the conclusions of these first exchanges.

Today, the  ODDAFIP project, which should have finished at the end of October 2022, has plans on the long term. Meetings between artisans from the three countries represented continue and the 21 videos are used as educational tools to explore the SDGs, Fair Trade and more. We invite you to do the same!

ODDATARA

A description of ODDATARA, the « cradle » of ODDAFIP!

The ODDATARA project, precursor of ODDAFIP, was supported by volunteers from the local Artisans du Mondeassociations from the Auvergne Rhône Alpes region. The project led to the creation of documentaries with artisan communities in France (AURA region) and Inde (TARA projects fair trade association)

The european funds for ODDATARA (Frame, Voice, Report ! Administered by RESACOOP) allowed us to finance a visit from Koko, responsible for communications from TARA, who met several ADM associations in the region.

A central event, at the 3A school in Lyon, allowed us to screen the documentaries and to animate 3 round tables with specialists on the chose subjects: “Fight against Poverty”, “Decent Work”, and “Gender Equality, (these presentations were done by representatives from ADM, d’Ethique sur l’étiquette, d’Oxfam France, d’ATD quart Monde, du CCFD et regards de femmes et de WECF France).

Despite the start of the pandemic, which prevented the widespread promotion of ODDATARA, this first project was the solid basis on which ODDAFIP was built.

17 Goals to Transform Our World

The Sustainable Development Goals give us a roadmap to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. The goals are interconnected and, in order to leave no one behind, it is important to achieve each of them by 2030.

This web documentary can also be explored by looking at each of the Sustainable Development Goals, seeing how the same struggles are waged in India, France and Peru.

Click on a specific goal below for more information. Keep in mind that these targets often intersect and you will recognize multiple goals for the same characters!
