The tenth SDG calls on countries to adapt their policies and legislation in order to increase the incomes of the 40% of the poorest inhabitants as well as to reduce wage inequalities which would be based on gender, age, disability, origin social or ethnic, religious affiliation. This in particular by encouraging the representation of developing countries in decision-making of global scope.

By 2030, the aim is to ensure, through incremental improvements, that the incomes of the poorest 40% of the population grow faster than the national average income, and do so in a sustainable way.
